Two Assam players, wicketkeeper-batter Uma Chetry and all-rounder Jintimani Kalita, have been named in the India A Women’s squads for the upcoming series against Australia A, the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) announced, earning praise from the state body. The tour will feature three T20s, three one-day internationals and a four-day multi-day match between India A Women and Australia A Women.
Uma Chetry has been selected in both the T20 and one-day squads, while Jintimani Kalita has been picked across all three formats, reflecting selectors’ confidence in their readiness for higher-level competition. The selections mark a notable achievement for Assam cricket as two homegrown players step into the India A setup.
The T20 leg will be played in New Chandigarh from September 12 to 17, followed by the three-match one-day series at the PCA Stadium in Mohali from September 20 to 25. The tour concludes with a four-day match in Dharamsala from September 29 to October 2.
The Assam Cricket Association congratulated both cricketers and wished them success on the tour. ACA secretary Sanjatan Das said the pair’s selection “marked a significant achievement and reflected the growing presence of Assam cricketers in the national setup,” underscoring the progress of the state’s development pathways and the increasing visibility of northeastern talent on the national stage.
