\u00a0-BY KAMRUL\u00a0 KHAN-<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n In alignment with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, a joint initiative by the district police administration and the Diphu Islamic Social Reform Society was held to conduct an awareness meeting as part of the “Drug-Free India” campaign. Several psychiatrists from Diphu Medical College and Hospital, along with Shubhra Das, an active member of the Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, Deputy Superintendent of Police Jayanta Kumar Barua, and leaders from the Diphu Mosque Committee, including President Alhaj Taj Uddin Ahmed, Secretary Majaharul Islam, and Imam Maulana Gias Uddin Kasimi, delivered insightful speeches on the devastating effects of drugs and discussed initiatives for the rehabilitation of the affected youth.<\/p>\n Prominent actor Rajiv Kumar and his colleagues made an effort to explain the impact of drug use on the youth in simple terms through their play. Mazaharul Islam, the secretary of the District Mosque Committee, stated in his speech that the youth society has been engulfed by drugs. He mentioned that the uneducated segments of society can become drug-free by acquiring knowledge from the educated class. Currently, some people in society are more attracted to the quick earnings through the drug trade, leading to societal decline. On the other hand, the Additional Superintendent of Police, Jayant Kumar Baruah, highlighted the legal measures against drugs and led a collective oath to make society drug-free.<\/p>\n In her speech, the district commissioner Madhumita Bhagawati stated that the district administration will always remain proactive in combatting drugs. Specifically, she emphasized the administration’s commitment to fostering a drug-free society through social reforms, skill development programs, and collaboration in initiatives like HIV prevention. Additionally, she mentioned that police patrols will be increased to fight against drug issues.
