I<\/span>n just a few more months, the clarion call for the Lok Sabha<\/a> elections will sound. Prior to that, Prime Minister Narendra Modi<\/a> embarked on a visit to Gujarat. During this visit, he also created another historical milestone by inaugurating the country’s longest cable bridge, which connects Okha and Bet Dwarka. The bridge has been christened ‘Sudarshan Setu’.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The most captivating aspect of this bridge is its construction technique. It is a unique cable-stayed bridge in India, the likes of which does not exist elsewhere in the country. This bridge will significantly reduce travel time between Dwarka and Bet Dwarka, benefiting millions of pilgrims who previously had to rely on boats for the journey. <\/span><\/p>\n

Now, with this problem resolved, pilgrims can easily traverse from one side to the other with ease. Notably, in October 2017, Modi laid the foundation stone for this 2.3-kilometer-long bridge, which was intended to establish a connection between old Dwarka and new Dwarka. Initially, it was named the ‘Signature Bridge,’ but it was later changed to ‘Sudarshan Setu,’ named after Lord Krishna’s weapon, the Sudarshan Chakra.<\/span><\/p>\n

It should be noted that Bet Dwarka is a significant island located near the Okha port, approximately 30 kilometers from the city of Dwarka. This is where the revered Dwarkadhish Temple of Lord Krishna is situated. The ‘Sudarshan Setu’ has now connected these two locations. It is noteworthy that after the inauguration of the bridge, the Prime Minister will visit the Dwarkadhish Temple.<\/span><\/p>\n

Expressing excitement about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the temple, the priest of Bet Dwarka temple, Jignesh Joshi, said, “This is the first time Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting the Dwarka temple. The most beautiful aspect is that the bridge being inaugurated is named after Lord Krishna’s weapon, the Sudarshan Chakra, and it will be remembered by all. We are deeply grateful to Modi Ji. We cannot fully express our excitement in words. On behalf of all the priests, we extend our best wishes to the Prime Minister.”<\/span><\/p>\n
